Yes you can.  I have kept them in the pan, ready to go overnight.  Actually, the cakes seem to do better!  Not as many crumbs and bake more evenly.

Eggs in batter and refrigerated or eggs in carton and refrigerated.  Same thing.

Y'all don't need to make baking harder than it is.  Scratch batter WILL hold in the fridge - for days.  Scratch batter WILL hold in the freezer - for weeks.  
Exceptions are scratch batter that is leavened exclusively with baking soda won't hold more than a few hours;  batter leavened by whipped egg whites will hold overnight.

Boxed mixes pretty much can't be ruined.
