ok so my son is having a pool party for his 10th bday. we have decided on a general idea for his cake. the cake will be a surf board....we found party supplies called beach monkey and it has surfing monkeys on the plates and stuff. so of course we want to include a surfing monkey on the cake. my plan so far is to make a sheet cake and carve it to be in the shape of a board. but i am totally lost at trying to figure out how to make a monkey to be surfing on top. oh yeah and my son wants sharks to be in the water and the monkey looking scared/worried
i am thinking fondant alone will be way way way to heavy. was thinking Rice Krispies covered in fondant but am still worried it will be to heavy.......the monkey doesnt even need to be edible....... please help me......

thats a link to the beach balls that go with the party. any help would be great
I think that I would probably make the cake as the ocean, and make the surf board out of fondant. You wouldn't have to worry so much then about the monkey being too heavy and you could model him out of fondant. I love that the monkey is surfing on a banana! This sounds like a really cute cake!
Good luck!
what a great idea. hadnt thought to just make the cake an ocean then the monkey would no have to be huge lol thank you so much.
