I prepared some easy MMF recently, but it was too sticky. I don't know what I did wrong. I mixed the marshmallow fluff and powdered sugar until it wasn't sticky. Unfortunately, the MMF is too soft and delicate. I would like to use the MMF to make a Cars cake and need help desperately. Please help.

I think I remember reading somewhere that it might be because you didn't have enought powdered sugar??? Not for sure though..

Hi, I'm so sorry this is happening to you, and to tell you the truth, JMHO though, I don't like this MMF made out of Fluff, I had the same problem as you did and found it horrible to work with! I ended up not using it. I only used a little bit of it to make some fondant balls for a border. It was sticky and messy! Good luck!

Oh no! I bought the ingredients to make the easy Mmf too! I have an idea for my first fondant cake and was going to start it this weekend! Let me know how it turns out if you add more sugar to yours.

I love the Easy MMF recipe...you probably do need to add more sugar, but also try kneading in 2TBS of Crisco as well...make sure you coat everything with Crisco too (hands, bowl, spoon, etc.)

I use the easy fluff MMF all the time, I think the extra difficulty of working with it is worth it because it tastes so much better than the store-bought crap. I add in a tablespoon or so of Crisco while I'm making it, and I just keep working in the powdered sugar until it just won't accept any more (uses very nearly a whole 2 lb bag if you use the large Fluff container). Make sure you powder everything like crazy (rolling surface, hands, rolling pin), and I find that a long flat spatula helps me zip underneath it to turn it while I roll it out. Don't know if the melted marshmallow kind is any easier to work with, but I'll never go back to packaged fondant. Good luck!

i've tried both mmf recipes and i have found the marshmallow fluff recipe harder to work w/. it seems like you have to knead it a lot longer than reg. marshmallows. sorry! hth

I've never made my own fondant. I use the brand Satin Ice, and no one has ever complained about the taste and everybody eats it. I don't think it is worth the time and money to make your own fondant. Just my 2 cents.

I just made my very first two batches of easy MMF. And after it is all said and done...I think I tend to agree with you Chefperl. After all that working and kneading and adding crisco and adding sugar...whew. My buttercream looks smooth enough! If I have to have fondant I think I will order some Satin Ice! JMO...to me nothing compares to the taste of buttercream, even though the mmf is very good.

Well I make my own MMF but using mini marshmallows, water, and confectioners sugar. It is super easy & quickand it always turns out perfect!!!! Very easy to make and tastes worlds better than store bought fondant. Since you're using fluff instead of actual marshmallows you may need to keep adding confectioners sugar.

I must agree with NickyMom, MMF made out of fluff is not half as good as the one made with mini MM, tastes great and is WAAAAY cheaper than any other store brand!!

I've been seeing alot abotu MMF and I want to try making some. I used fondant for the first time Saturday and it was Wilton store bought. I wasn't crazy about it and not many people liked it except for my cousin haha

Does anyone have a really great MMF recipe they wouldn't mind sharing?

Thanks!

I've tried Wilton Fondant, rolled buttercream fondant, and the MMF w/ the mini marshmallows. I didn't care for the Wilton Fondant (no taste), but the other two tasted great. The MMF was the easiest to work w/ though, w/ the best consistency. Maybe try making the other recipe--w/ the mini marshmallows next? (The rolled buttercream tasted great, but I had more trouble w/ it tearing--but I'm fairly new at this.)

Go to "recipes" on this site. I use the easy MMF recipe with the Marshmallow Fluff....very easy to make and reasonable to use as long as you powdered-sugar the heck out of everything it touches. Tastes great, everyone loves it. And I hear the mini-marshmallow recipe from this site is good, too....haven't tried it yet. You'll never go back to store-bought after you make it yourself. Tastier and cheaper, too!

I find it difficult and expensive to buy the Marshmallow Fluff where I am so I've always used the MMF with marshmallows. It's so delicious, just like candy. It works out perfectly well each time as well. It keeps for quite a while, just re-microwave for a few seconds and roll!

Perhaps I'll try the mini marshmallow recipe sometime soon. The easy recipe made from fluff took too much time, work and ingredients!
