The recipe i use is similar to sugarshack's but I use regular shortening and I never have a problem. It's more the technique she uses. You can only find hi-ratio at cake supply shops, I believe.

Is that regular shortening like Crisco or is it one that still contains the trans fat???

Lately I've been using regular crisco. I had tried walmart brand w/ the transfats but it was too soft & greasy. For a while i used 1/3 walmart to 2/3 crisco until I used it all up, now it's straight crisco.
