Has anyone see any online courses for baking and/or cake decorating? I know this seems kind of a weird request... but I have heard of some programs being offered online. I am particularily interested in cake decorating classes but I do not have the time or means to take an involved course (besides, I live in a small town that doesn't offer much.
Or, what are some good instructional videos on this topic. I appreciate the help.

You can learn just about everything needed with an on line video taught by Trish.

Go to www.CakesMadeEasy.com

I bought the set and love it. I thought Trish was such a great teacher that I drove over 1 1/2 hours one way to take classes from her.

You can go to www.CakeMaven.com and see her web site. From there you will find a link to the Cakes made Easy website.

That's because our beloved friend and member, Trish (cakemaven) is the star of those videos!

Those videos are great! Plus it's cheaper than a class, and you get up-close views and can rewind, unlike a class. Great investment for your needs, I'd think.

I have the CakesMadeEasy E-books and I absolutely love them! They have lots of need to know information about baking and decorating cakes. I feel they are definitely worth getting. They have a cookie one out now which I was thinking about getting too.

I used the video about making roses the first time I did roses and I was impressed with how well my roses came out!

I just wish they'd make one showing you how to sculpt anything you want using fondant and gumpaste! Oh wait, that's probably just my non-creative side wishing it was creative! icon_cry.gif I guess everything can't be that easy! lol

What I did when I took any course I took my video camera with me so anytime I need to go back & refer to something it's all on video. You can zoom in & remember excatly everything & every tip that was said It was great! I've watched my video a few times!!! Most teachers are cool with the camera!

I would love that as well. I haven't worked with fondant much but everytime I do I wish there was someone there guiding me... as I am sure there are so many tricks. Oh well... I guess a lot of that comes from practice (and reading this forum!)
Thanks for all the great suggestions.

Those look like great videos! Wish that I could find them secondhand as the price is a bit steep. I understand the price, just can't absorb the price! (and yes, I realize these are ebooks - which is a good idea on their part! because it prevents secondhand sales.)

I know... it's hard to drop a big chunk of change when you don't know exactly what you are going to get.
But a lot of people on this forum say it's great.. and I trust them.. it's still hard though. icon_cry.gif

Berryblondeboys,

You can get them in printed form with dvd's too. I would check on ebay for them just in case. Someone may have ordered them in print rather than e-book and decided they don't need them anymore...you never know.
