I have been reading some of the topics on bake even strips, they sound great. I was wondering could you use a kitchen towel cut into strips and wet.Would this give you the same result. If so how could you attach it to make it stay around tin. All advice welcome. Thanks in advance.

I use an old hand towel that I cut in half length ways. I fold that in half length ways again before soaking it in cold water, wringing it out then putting it around the cake tin, I use string to keep it around the tin. Works like a charm.

You can also use wet paper towels, such as VIVA. Fold a section into a long 'belt,' saturate it with water, and wrap it around the pan. It will stick to itself and to the pan. I use this technique for irregular shaped cake pans.
