Hey there,
I was looking for classes in your area and found this "how to" video for a cookie decorating technique that you can work on at home.

Hope this gives you something new to try while you try to find a class. Good luck.
Check your local cake supply stores. Ours here usually have two a year. Also, check Michaels if you have one. I took a cookie bouquet class there. For now, here are some great cookie books for you:
Toba Garrett (you'll find her glace in the recipe section):

Valerie Peterson (you'll find the Dark Chocolate Rolled cookies from this book in the recipe section):

Autumn Carpenter:

I went to the video site cakelady1978 recommended. I liked it. It seems so easy after watching someone else do it. I didn't like having to sign up for something. What did you think about that?
Otherwise, this seemed like a cool way to learn alone. What did you think Laurie?
yup, i've gone to yummyarts, i have the books you mentioned... but, i am really a visual/hands on learner... i'll look into the michaels class.. thanx for responding!!
i took a couple workshops last year in dearborn thru ices. i haven't heard anything this year
