Depends on what kind of "shine" you're talking about. Pearl dust will give it that pearly shine, but not a shortening kind of shine.
Buffing it with your hands really well before you place it on there helps, and then just buffing the heck out of it afterwards too. But again, it depends on what kind of "shine" you're meaning.
