For BC, the best tip I was given was to start with a dark brown chocolate icing, then add in your black coloring. HTH.

try starting with chocolate frosting- that helps. Use the DARK chocolate cocoa if you can.

It also helps to let your colored icing sit for a few hours or overnight. The color will deepen. Be sure to remix it before use.

The best tip I recieved when faced with this dilema was to use Americolor super black. You only need a little , so you don't get that bitter taste from using too much color. Of course, when I needed black, I needed black! The next best thing was to do just as the others said, start with dark icing and add your black from there- it may take quite a bit and it will definately darken after sitting in the air. HTH.

I found using cocco in the BC, then adding a little black works well

Do you think if I purchased a chocolate buttercream like from Wilton I can add the black coloring in it? I don't need a lot of black icing for my next cake.

Thanks in advance

Sure! If you only need a small amount, you could even use the black icing that comes in the tube.
