My recipe for choc bc is very similar to the one you posted. I don't use butter though. I use butter flavor and add 1T +1t. The butter/flavor is what makes the cocoa taste rich and creamy. My customers rave over my choc bc! I think it's pretty tasty myself! Either way (butter vs butter flavor) it will be excellent! ![]()
The "My Easy Chocolate Buttercream" recipe that's posted here (if it's the one you're talking about ), is the ONLY chocolate buttercream I use now! I get RAVE reviews about how fudgy delicious it tastes! I add a little more milk to make it easier to spread, but other than that, it's a fantastic recipe and I highly recommend it!
Thanks for the hot tip, Cambo! I do not get too many requests for chocolate buttercream, but I have 2-3 weddings coming up in the next two years, and they all want Groom's Cakes. I guess it's time to add it to my tasting menu!

The "Easy Choc. BC" recipe posted by Kakes_by_kim is similar, if not the same, to the one I use from the Wilton site. It is very delicious and I sometimes add almond extract instead of vanilla. I've done two cakes (in photos) using this recipe and got rave reviews.
And yes, it crusted.
Well, I made it yesterday. I wasn't too thrilled about the taste. I went out and bought three cans of Duncan Hines Calssic chocolate frosting ... which I know I like. It cost $4.50 ... and that's about what it costs to make the double-batch of frosting I made. In my mind, if the cost is the same, and I like the canned better, then why hassel with making it? It will be good to use for the borders of the cake because the canned frosting isn't good for decorating. I will use it up on a cake for my family.
