I get my braces off thumbs_up.gif on Jan 17th and I love all the people at the orthodontics office (just won't miss going there) so would it be wierd for me to back them a cake and take it to them that day? I was thinking of just making a little sheet cake with a chocolate transfer of their logo?

Congrats on getting the braces off! I think that taking a cake to the office would be a very nice way to say thanks for taking care of you so well!

The recipients would be tickled, I'm sure! Janice

i brought a cake to my physiotherapists office, they all loved it! and speaking as a health care worker, i know that i love when my patients express their appreciation for the work that we do (in any way that they're able)

Ok so I have another question? Should I just make an 9x13 or should I make two of them and put them together like a big sheet cake? There are about 10-15 people in the office. But lots of clients.

If it were me, I would just make one 9X13 cake. I would guess that they would put it in their back room and save it for employees only right??

I think that's a really sweet gesture (pun intended). Let us know how it was received. Congrats on your teeth getting their freedom.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Just another dumb question. I am pretty new at this. Would you torte the cake? If I make a white cake what do you think would be the best flavor for in the middle? I have never torted a cake before so I would like to try it. I just would like some suggestions from the "PROS"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you all in advance.

Don't torte a sheet cake, make two thin layers if you wish to have more then one layer and a filling. I don't normally do that I leave it as is and just frost it with buttercream. But I would suggest, since I did try once and the floor, the table and my self all wore the cake I would suggest making two thin layers instead. So just fill the pan about 1/2 of what you normally would and bake it, cool it, remove to board, bake another same size, cool, remove to board, add filling, and add 2nd layer icon_smile.gif

I think they would love it & really appreciate it (I'm also a healthcare worker) thumbs_up.gif
I took one to my dentist's office a couple of months ago, just a small 9" square, and they couldn't get over someone bringing them something. The dentist must have thanked me 2 or 3 times.

Would be cute to make a set of teeth cake with braces on them. There are loads of teeth pictures in the Gallery and I was surprised how easy they were, just two rounds, cut off a fifth straight on one side and ice. I used fondant for the teeth and you could meke the braces with fondant as well. The rest I just iced in pink BC

I just remembered a phrase I had read years ago (don't remember if it was on a shirt, plaque, or whatever though). Thought you might want to incorporate it onto your cake (just a thought, although they've probably heard it before icon_wink.gif ).

I'd like to thank my orthodontist for straightening me out.

Just an idea.

Sugar Plum that is cute. I'm not quite sure what I am going to do but I do know I want to put their logo on the cake so I am going to do a chocolate transfer of that. But I might have to put that on there to someplace.

Does anyone on here know what kind of chocolate mousse I can use that doesn't have to be refrigerated? If not what kind of filling should I use on a white cake?
