Can anyone tell me the best way to assemble a cake that has the layers of roses in between the tiers?

Are the plastic dowels with with the plates are good idea? I would like something where it doesn't look like the tiers are on anything.

Anyone have any ideas???

Thanks so much.

I think that's the best way to go. Go for the 3" pillars (the shortest available) but you'll need quite a few roses to fill the gap.

You can also use styrofoam dummies in between the tiers. You have to pre-punch holes for the flowers. You can also use florist oasis, but you have to watch out for the green dust that can filter from the oasis.

I have one like that in my photos. I used the Wilton hidden pillars but did not cut them and then just placed the flowers in between the layers.

Hope this helps.

Wilton also has a cake stand with one large pillar running down the middle of the cakes. That is what I used on these cakes....

As for how to assemble them, I put the bottom cake on the display table then the flowers on that cake, then I add the next cake and put the flowers on that one, finally the top tier and the top flowers. I did it this way because I was afraid of knocking a higher layer while putting flowers on the bottom - or muffing the frosting or something.

Good Luck!!
