I made this cake for a friend who specifically asked for "just" a sheet cake (this may have been my first)....
I tried to make it pretty, but I think I will talk them out of it next time...It felt very strange working within those dimensions...I know it kinda sounds dramatic...
dimensions (as requested): 11 x 15
fondant covered & flowers & stuff
bow has couple's names on it...used edible images
royal piping

Irene, since when do you do anything "plain"?
That is a beautiful cake. I cannot believe that it might be your first sheet cake. You astound me.
Hey, are you going to the FCI for the grapefruit thing on Saturday? I am registered, and will definitely be there.

Hi guys!! Thank you so much!! I guess by plain I mean it wasn't stacked, shaped, or carved....my little hands need to work work work!!! The more I look at it now, though, the more I like it! It actually was a bit of a relief to get off without doweling and stuff for a change! Thanks to all of you!

Hi T.....unfortunatley I'm knee deep in bridal shower plans for my only sister.....I think I've set the bar too high and now I'm paying for it!! Everyone expects to be wowed ....so I won't be going anywhere for the next 10 days! Meanwhile...I have BOTH my kids home sick with me today!

When I saw the title of this post and the author, I just said outloud........I know THIS ain't gonna be plain!!! You ALWAYS do such gorgeous work ~ so I knew it would be a breathtaking design!! (and it IS!!) I am sure they were thrilled, and I can't wait to see what you come up with for your sister!

That is beautiful, as I knew it would be.

You need to look up the meaning of "plain" - This is absolutely beautiful!

Is it fondant covered and piped in b/c and fondant accents? It really is a very nice "friend" cake!!!!! Where's my friends when I need em?

It's fondant but piped with royal....I'll make you a cake anytime!
OOOOOooops! I just realized that I never added the ribbon around the base. silly me.

Haven't you figured it out yet? You are "the friend" that everyone goes to for cakes, just like Irene is where she lives, just like I am where I live.
Irene, enlighten me, where would you even put a ribbon around the bottom? Would you put it on, then pipe over it?
