I'm going to try carving a chocolate cake so that the entire cake looks like a 50 -- but I think my cakes are too soft. Any ideas on a recipe or a doctored mix that will hold up to this well?

TIA -- Sarah

I can tell you that using milk instead of water in your batter will make a stiffer cake, and adding a box of pudding will also help make it more dense, but your best bet with chocolate cake is to freeze it before cutting it.

Hi Sarah,

There is a recipe for dark chocolate mud cake here on CC posted by Boonenati. It's gorgeous and it's the only cake I use if I need to carve.

Thanks for the tips! At least I have a place to start now. I'll do a practice and see how it goes. icon_lol.gif
