Hi guys!

I was wondering if any of you all have used the fondant lifter that is available on the internet? I am doing a wedding cake that is the ultra tall layers (8-9" for each tier) and was wondering if this gadget is worth the money.

There is a thread on another website regarding a home made fondant lifter. Have any of you ever made one?

Thanks in advance!

Melissa

I bought one a couple of months ago and I absoulutely love it. I haven't tried the extra tall layers, but from the way it performs, it will be great for the task!

The lifter makes the covering process faster, easier, and the smoothing process a breeze.

i used mine the first time on my painted flowers cake, the tier was quite tall, over 4" and it worked like a dream, not a wrinkle in the fondant anywhere. I also got mine made for $116. wht i learned, because i didn;t succeed until the 2nd try was to roll it well out onto the outer ring, first time it only just touch it in places, and that wasn;t enough contact to support the weight in the middle when i lifted it.

My husband bought me one some time ago because I wouldn't buy it for myself. I don't use it on smaller cakes but on the large cakes it's awesome! Look at my cow wedding cake and duckie shower cake. The fondant is perfectly smooth!
