There are quite a few Elvis cakes on this site. Did you try doing a search under the "Galleries" section? That's where I got the idea to do the FBCT Elvis cake for my b-i-l's birthday.
GO TO THE LIBRARY AND BROUSE THROUGH AN ELVIS BIOGRAPHY. MAYBE YOU CAN COME UP WITH SOME NEW IDEAS ABOUT ELVIS'S LIFE AND SOMETHING MAY CORRESPOND WITH THE RETIREE'S LIFE
I live in Memphis and worked at Graceland as a teenager. A true lifetime elvis fan am I! The gates of Graceland would be neat. You could also do a film reel with edible images in the sections. I have always wanted to do an elvis cake. No one around here orders them. Maybe I will have to make one for my own birthday!
Off the subject, I am a newbie and get a little lost sometimes reading these things. Could someone describe a little of the lingo? i.e. BBC, CCC, etc. Sorry to be so ignorant on the subject! 
You could make a white chocolate or MMF sheet music i.e. Blue Suede Shoes (edible image) to stand up on top of the cake and put small records around the sides. Here is a site where you can order sheet music to download for under $4.00.
