People use different ways. I insert the stick, then bake. I think the cookie holds on the stick better. Also, I know if I have rolled the cookie to thin for the stick to fit.

Many apply the stick on the back, using melted chocolate. I personally do not care for that method.

There is no right or wrong way, only a way that works for you.

I like to bake my cookies, let cool 1-2 mins on sheet, move to cooling rack then insert the sticks. I roll my dough about 3/16" thick before baking and then use bamboo skewers as my sticks.

I like putting them in the cookie before baking, too. I have found that it works really well for me. Just remember to move them by holding the cookie, and not the stick until they are completely cooled and "set".

Have fun!!!
