Hi there everyone!

I'm going to be making a sushi cake for a friend, and I just bought some wafer paper from sugarcraft. I was wondering what would be the best way for me to color the wafer paper. Should I cut the strips first, or color the sheet first? Should I use diluted gel paste color? I do want to brush it with some piping gel after it's wrapped on the "sushi" to give it a more realistic look.

Any ideas?

TIA!
Melli

Airbrush color will work well. I have not used diluted gel paste, so I can't help you there. Painting the entire sheet will be easier than strips.

Piping gel doesn't taste that great. Maybe you could brush on some corn syrup or something like that.

Rice paper dissolves quickly, so whatever you use, work sparingly.
