I've searched but been unsuccessful finding an answer. I was wondering how long fondant can be stored at room temp? I made Michele's fondant last night & was wondering how long of a shelf life it will have if I wrap it in plastic, put in freezer bag & in airtight container? Didn't know if it would be any different than store bought or not. Thanks

i haven't made fondant but i use satin ice. i never put it in the fridge. it stays wrapped in the bag it came in and then sealed in the bucket. i don't know if that helps.

I've always thought what is in it that could go bad? Marshmellows and suger have a really long shelf life before being opened.
So I am curious what others think as well.

Fondant will last forever if you store it right. I roll my fondant into a ball then rub crisco all over it then wrap w/ saran wrap. Then wrap w/ tinfoil & either put it in a ziploc bag or a tupperware bowl. I mostly store in ziploc bag. If it tastes good & isn't hard as a rock it's still good icon_smile.gif I also store my gumpaste this way. I've never stored fondant in the freezer or frig it always keeps fine this way. thumbs_up.gif Even if it is hard you can try putting it in the microwave for a few seconds, it might soften it up so you can use it. Hope that helps~
