Here is a picture of my first cake ever. I did it today. It is vanilla with chocolate ganache mousse. I made and used MMF for the first time today too. I absolutely love it. I am proud of this cake.....my dh likes to nit-pick though. I just tell him it is my first and I will get better with time.

I've been playing with cake decorating for several years and I've yet to get enough nerve to try MMF. Yours is great, especially for your first. Tell you DH to quit nitpicking or all of us from CC will be after him. icon_lol.gif

I kept reading to use crisco....that is so true. I kept having to re-grease my work area. This cake took me most of the day. I had to work on it while my daughter napped, so it took a while. I made the mmf this morning, and let it rest all day. Then did it after she went to bed tonight. I had so much fun with it. I did this for practice before her first birthday...I can't wait until her birthday to do it again.

My husband likes to be a 'cake critic' too - I just ask him if he could do it. He very quickly says, "no" and that's the end of it! icon_smile.gif

Nice job on your first of many cakes! thumbs_up.gif

Great job. Very impressive for the first time. MMF is wonderful to work with and you'll be able to create another beautiful cake, and have just as much fun.

You did a great job!! MMF is fun to work with but when it gives you problems, as it has done some here, it can be frustrating... just remember, if too sticky, either add a bit more confectioner's sugar or cornstarch.... for wedding cakes and if it is white, I like to use cornstarch to roll it out so it doesn't have too shiney of a finish .. if the cake is in color, use Crisco ... again, you did a wonderful job on your first cake with MMF.. give yourself a big pat on the back!!

Great job! You would never know this was a 1st cake. You sure have the tallent.

Don't listen to your husband. I have a sister like that and at times she made me almost quit decorating cakes and having fun.

Tell him to knock it off or the next cake will end up tossed in his face. icon_lol.gif
