I just tried my first sculpted cake! It was for my grad advisor's birthday. It fit so well with my name on here that I made it into my avatar. The inspiration was from one of Debbie Brown's books, but I changed it to have a more academic theme. The owl has a to-do list for lab members and is dressed in the academic regalia of where she earned her PhD! It was so much fun to make, I can't wait to try more sculpted cakes!

Hi Night Owl! I have saw the owl cake in the decorating book by Debbie Bown and I gotta tell you that I like your little owl a whole lot better! He is really neat! Bonnie
Thank you so much for posting a picture BEFORE you decorated it! That really gives the rest of us a good idea on how we can start our own sculpted cakes. I have only done a few small sculpted cakes, but seeing what you have done has inspired me to try something bigger.
