I've decided to try and make some money from my cakes and am opening up a business. I'm thinking of calling it,
Have Your Cake...
...And Eat It Too!
I would love to know what you all think. I've noticed that a lot of people put their own names in their business names but I would like something a bit more catchy. Would love some CC feedback.
Thanks

It sounds catchy....the only problem I see is it would be difficult saying every time you answer your phone...but I think it's a great name!
I think it is really cute, a bit long though...
I like it! Something different, because thats the thing - almost everyone has ..... cakes by ......
so answering the phone would be no different in my mind. Mine is short and catchy too...something you wouldn't normally see, but thats what gets peoples attention - its creating a "brand name"... fyi - my cake business isn't called meancat cakes! hahaha
that's the name I use--I'm in Ohio. Feedback has always been: I LOVE that name. I think it is very easy to remember, but very long to say and write. website is www.haveyourcakeandeatittoo.org ---very long to type out, too.
I sure don't care if you use it in NZ, but take the feedback about it being long and think about it. If I did it again, I think I'd go w/ something shorter.
Meancat - my eye did go towards your username! ![]()
Laura, here in Puerto Rico we have to register our business name in tha State Department. That's where I believe you can find out if the name is taken or as someone else suggested - on the internet.
Personally, I like the name. When you answer the phone, you don't always have to say the whole thing! ![]()

I think it is too long. You want something short and catchy.
I like it, I even practiced answering the phone and saying (it my mind) and it was'nt really that long to say. I think its really cute and a very recognizable (sp?) phrase. Good Luck with your business!
You know what I don't get is why people are always saying that you should look up your business name by Googling it or whatever to make sure no one else is using it. I worked for a corporate attorney for a long time, and whenever someone started a business, we looked it up in our state. If it was available in our state, we used it. I don't believe you have to search all ends of the earth just to make sure no one else is using your name. Even if you Googled the name, just because nothing comes up doesn't mean it's not being used somewhere by someone. It was my understanding that as long as it's available in your state, you're fine. Am I wrong? It just seems hard to believe there is only 1 of each of these bakery names being used in the world or even in the US.
