Okay, I'm planning on finally signing up for classes in January. I figured "it's always best to start at the beginning" (to quote a famous good witch). So I'll start with class one. What do I bring for the first class? Anything? Will they tell me? I just don't want to spring for supplies that I most likely already have - not to sound cheap, but I've been spending a small fortune lately and with the classes, though not expensive, I just don't want to speand any more than I have to especially since this is a hobby.

Thanks.

When you sign up they should give you although the first night you don't have to bring anything but you can go ahead and buy the Course I kit (wait for the 40% coupon) unless their special is pay full for course and get the kit for $.01.

Have fun - you will enjoy

When you sign up for class ask that the instructor call you before hand so you can discuss with her. Class I took they explained everything we would need as far as equipment ect...in first session. You are also given a book for class that explains what tips, color ect.. you will need for each lesson. You may not have to buy to much if you have already been decorating. You can look on box for class one and see what is included in kit and that way know ahead of time ( before signing up) if you will need to purchase any more before first class. HTH

I purchased the Course kits 1 - 3 on eBay for very cheap. New unopened packages with just a little flaw in the box here and there. I paid an additional $5.~ for each course book and when they arrived it's all in perfect condition and comes with stuff I already had bought but it's good to have doubles and triples of some tips and some supplies icon_smile.gif I have a special tool caddy set up just for when I take the courses it'll have things needed for that course in it so I don't have to take so much stuff in with me. You can get the empty tool caddies for about $15.~ depending on where you shop or some people say if you're going to be going into business doing this weather at home or at a shop, it's best to invest in the most expencive stocked tool caddy. When I take the courses if I get a 50% off coupon for products that's what I plan on using it on.... just some thoughts to help make classes easier for you icon_smile.gif

I am an instructor with Wilton. The first night is just learning about the BC and how to make and ice a cake. You will be given a work book to keep and write your notes in it. If you want to save money just get the basic kit. They start out at 19.99. Some stores have discounts you can save more money on the kits. But if you know that this is something you will want to do more and want to save even more money take the discount and get the 101 tool kit. It has most everything that you will need to decorate. Minus the turntable (to big to go in the caddie) and the cake pans. HTH

You don't have to take anything the first night except your Course 1 kit. Which you can get for 40% off with the coupon! Then the instructor will tell you what to bring for the next class.

You do not need to to take anything to your first class. For the other classes you will need to take a cake and the course 1 kit. Depending on where you are going to attend your class, there are special discounts or promotions that apply to the courses.
