Hi. I am going to be making my own wedding cake in June 2007. I am going to use a buttercream icing, since that is my favorite icing! My problem is that I can't decided what type of cake to make...I don't want to use chocolate. I want something really good and moist that would work well with buttercream icing.

Would anyone be willing to share their recipe or post a link to their favorite wedding cake recipe? It will be a 4-5 tier square stacked cake, so I need something that will hold up well.

THANKS in advance!

Do you bake from scratch or with mixes?

I bake with both scratch and box mixes....I would like to start "testing" cakes, so I am open to anything.

THANKS!

Alot of people rave about the white almond sour cream cake on here. I haven't tried it but it's on the list.

A simple recipe for any cake mix is to add an extra egg and a box of instant pudding mix to the directions. Also use 1 tsp of a complimentary extract per box. I also use 1/2 c of oil instead of the oil called for on the directions. This opens up many possibilities for flavor choices and gives you a bit denser cake for better stability with a cake 4-5 tiers.

I love this recipe, it works with any boxed mix (so far)

1 box mix
1 pkg dreamwhip
4 eggs
1 cup water / milk / choc milk / coffee creamer (really any liquid you want)
bake at your standard temp (for me 350 for approx 40mins)

i have used this with layered cake and cakes covered with fondant.
it is moist and i always use the buttercream dram recipe from here with it

goodluck and congrats!
