Sometimes it's even in the produce section and is packaged in what looks like saran wrap! It looks just like a block of white chocolate.
In my Walmart, it's always on the top shelf of the baking isle with the other baking chocolates. You should be able to find it pretty easily this time of year.
Kroger also carries the bark coating in their baking aisle. They also like to mark it pretty cheap following holidays to keep from having extra piled up in the back room. (Why mine says $1.00) For candy making or better tasting chocolates I actually buy the 1/2 pound Easter bunnies from Rite Aid. They usually run them half of before Easter making them 99 cents and they run them half or more off after Easter. Last year I picked up a bunch for about 75 cents each which is only $1.50/lb and they taste great. Here is a picture of the Kroger almond bark as someone asked what kind of package it comes in. I believe Wal-Mart's is packaged fairly similarly.
Buying chocolate at a discount after the holidays is a good idea, especially for practice
I find it works fine for chocolate transfers, but I only tried modeling chocolate once and I tried it with the vanilla bark, and I swore I would never use modeling chocolate again, but I think I'm going to try it with real chocolate and see if it makes a difference!
