can I make buttercream with all butter and no crisco? will it hold up???

I know it sounds dumb, but I don't want to end up with a goopy mess.

You can make it, it does not crust like crisco, and it will melt more easily. especially in your hand while you are using your decorating bag. But how good it is.
I suggest using a bowl with ice water close by to keep your hand cold and put the cake in the fridge to ensure it keeps it's shape.

Good Luck .

I also prefer the taste of butter, so I use the Buttercream Dream recipe but adjust the ratio of butter to shortening in favour of butter. As long as there is still around half a cup of shortening, it still crusts fine.
