I saw in the thread about the best thing you ever learned on CC....I read one that said "violet cancels yellow" and that is was something to do with buttercream being yellow due to butter. Can anyone elaborate on this subject? I can't seem to find anything in the threads.

If you make your buttercream with real butter, you can get the icing almost white by adding a smidgen of violet to the frosting. Tiny amounts at a time until it whitens. I've used it, it works.

OMG!! That is so cool! I would never have believed it! I use 2cups or crisco and 1/2 cup of butter in my buttercream, it is pretty white, but I bet I will be trying this trick out!!!!!!!!!
Thanks ever so much!
