Simply stunning!! My hands hurt just looking at all those little circles! It's a very impressive cake!!
A cramp is an understatement!!! Is it just tiny loops of icing done in layers all around the cake? I definately would not have that kind of patience for that kind of stringwork!
Excellent job!
Amy
Yep a billion tiny loops!
I love the look it has!
Absolutely beautiful! My carpal tunnel acts up just looking at that!
What kind of icing did you use? Is the recipe posted on the site?
So I rarely get real excited about wedding cakes! I am a special occasion kinda a gal! I did this cake with the technique that I have seen Norman Davis use. It is all buttercream piped with a #3 tip. My hand was so cramped after this cake! I really love it and the client gave me freedom to roam on this one!
The technique is just pipng in circles while turning the table. You just overlap on the next row and so on!
The lighting was so bad......I had to pick the best and these were them!
They celebrated there 50th or was it 40th anniversary (so tired!) Anyway they never had a wedding cake and I wanted it to be special!

Thanks for looking!
Isn't Norman Davis a sweetie? I met him when he had his cake shop and right before he colaborated on a book. His signature cake at that time was the white chocolate curl cake. Have you seen that one?

I used SMBC and the recipe I use is one that I developed.

That cake is a beauty. You are both courageous and successful at this piece of art.

Incredible cake!! It is like Cornelli Lace on Crack!!! Gosh, that had to be a nightmare, but worth it to hear all of us slobber all over you, huh?

Wow that was truly amazing! Congratulations!!
I have one question... how did you get your two cakes so smooth and even? They just look perfect!!! Thanks for your reply!!
I posted in earlier pages. I use SMBC. It is amazing stuff. I apply a very thick coat, Chill and with a bench knife or triangle I scrape down the side until even and smooth!
