sign language classes. She's a retiree and she's taking these lessons for fun. Her son wants to give her a b-day cake and that's the only "interest" he can come up with for me. Any ideas? I did a search on "sign language" and nothing cake up"

I would just do a general cake then. But, if you want to use the sign language thing maybe you could print an edible image with a bunch of the hands in the form of Happy Birthday? Just a thought to get your wheels turning! icon_biggrin.gif

There is a font called Gallaudet that has the fingers in the letter and number positions.

Great idea. icon_smile.gif I am only concerned about the amount of space I will have to work with. I know they are not having a party, so it will just be a few family members-not a large cake. I am going to play around with this idea. Thanks again! If anyone can think of anything else, please post it!

You might also think about the "I love you" sign, if you're short on space. It's the one with the thumb, forefinger and pinky extended.

Perhaps you could put Happy Birthday Name in a normal script, and just use the hand font as the numbers. The numbers are at the end after the Z, in the order 1-0.

I think I want to try printing the edible image if I can find someone to print it for me. Are they tough to work with?

Took the words right out of my hands! My sister is deaf and I think that she would like something with the "I Love You" sign. I am going to try to load one that I have set in a Xmas scene. I use it as my avatar on my IM.

You can make the happy birthday in ASL (Americal Sign Language), you dont have to speel it out.

Just look for Happy and Birth and Day it's 3 signs.

Here are a few sites to help:

Happy:

Birthday:

You could also use the I love you sing on there!

Good Luck
