Hi all, I need help real quick. Hubby has agreed to buy two new books. One of them is already picked out, but I'm debating on the other two. I'm shopping tomorrow so I'll pick them up them depending on what you say. I'm looking for a book with some new ideas to try and a recipe or two. What does everyone think of these two books?
Cakes to Dream on by Colette Peters
The Whimsical Bakehouse by Kaye Hansen
I've heard about the recipes in TWB but I already have plenty of recipes, does the book have any interesting cake dec. tips?
I know that Colette is a master but she has great tips and her techniques can be used on any cake and she gives great hints of sculpting and painting techniques!
Need some feedback, ladies!
the whimsical bakehouse, I like a lot. Show you some really cute chocolate transfer, recipes etc. Go to Amazon to look at the book.
as a guy, I'd say technique over recipes would be a good thing, if you have plenty of recipes already.
Just my opinion. Maybe the ladies have better ones?
Well Cakeman I value all opinions and I was thinking the same thing but I've heard so much about the recipes in TWB. I don't need another cookbook, so I wanted to hear about the cake decorating in the book before I made a decision!
That was the first book I ever bought and I have to agree with you all, it is an excellent book. Should I get the cookie book of hers? Does anyone have that book?
Here is the link for the recipe

I think Colette's Book is a good $10.00 cheaper on Amazon.com. Most of the cake decorating books are significanly discounted on there, and if you spend $25.00 or more, you get free shipping.
Thanks for the link. I think I'll try that recipe tonight. I keep hearing how yummy it is.
I wish I could buy it off Amazon, but hubby and I are leaving Friday for a whole weekend of racing at dragstrips and since I'll be miserable, he offered to get me a book but I need it by Friday so I'll have to go to a store and buy it. But my next books will be coming from Amazon!
yes, you should get Toba Garrett's cookie book. She has a lot of great ideas in there...
