Hello All,
I am excited to finish my State Fair entry today and wanted to share it with you all! ![]()
This is the first time I've ever covered an entire cake in fondant. It's MMF and some royal icing accents. It is 8" and 10" dummies.
The cowgirl hat is styrofoam cut to shape, covered in MMF with a royal icing tiara piped directly on the hat, all painted with pearl luster dust. The bandana's design was piped freehand in royal and edible black marker. The western shirt is MMF with royal fringe and edible pearls for the beads all painted with pearl luster dust.
The bottom tier is blue MMF for the jeans with a white MMF belt painted with pearl dust. I used silver dragees for the rhinestones. The chaps are brown MMF, all freehand cut to shape with accents painted with silver luster dust. The rope border is MMF that I made using my clay extruder gun. And the sunflower petals were made from a flower cutter, then layed on top of each other to form the flower. And finally the cake board is covered with dark brown MMF that I used a wood grain impression mat on and finished with ribbon around the edge.
Thanks for looking! Wish me luck!

That looks terrific, love the details on the shirt. Good luck ![]()
Absolutely awesome, Kim! I'm anxious to see it at the fair. My daughter has been asking if you had pictures up yet.
Good luck!
Wow Kim, it hardly seems like just a year ago that we were sitting in a gumpaste class together. You are just ROCKING the competition circuit in Arizona!
Love you and love the cake!
Rachel
