ok I have a question....

I found a recipe for cookies that my husband likes....I made them the first time following the recipe...he ate just one. So he asked me to make some again but use a different recipe....well I like dhte recipe but it was very dry....so i changed it up....quite a bit.

So does this make the recipe "mine" now?

I asked my husband this question and he responded with "why does it matter" keep it to yourself....I said well because if I wanted to post it I didnt want to get tails lifted at me because the recipe "technically" isnt mine......

omg I about peed my pants laughing when he jumped up and got excited about " do not share your recipes".... icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif ...which totally cracked me up because I had NO idea he had this in him.... who knew he was a recipe hoarder! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

(before I get jumped for the recipe hoarder icon_confused.gif ...just know that ge is one too...and look how well we get along.... icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif )

Well I would say since you've changed just about everything in the recipe it's your original creation... I'd change the name of it too just to be on the safe side icon_wink.gif

Also IMO I don't think it really matters what the original recipe was seeing as you changed everything in it to suit your tastes.... So I say go for it icon_smile.gif Share away! icon_smile.gif You created it by changing everything and changing it to your likes, dislikes, and tastes and it's yours icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, It's yours just re-vamped that's all. Just make sure to change the cookie name to be on the safe side.

If you've changed it to make it the way you like it, then it is now your recipe. Give it a creative name and call it one of your signature recipes! Especially if it's really good!! Take credit for making it that way!

Here's a thought.......

most recipes contain flour, sugar, eggs to start

no one owns the rights to them (basic ingredients) so what you add and measure would be yours, right? Granted it wasn't copied to the tee.

I think if you tweak measurments and then add or subtract to your liking it would be yours to share or not. LOL

Boy I hope that all came out the right way, LOL

I think if you changed a few things, that makes it yours now. Come up with a great name, and then....share it with us! icon_biggrin.gif

hahaha! My husband does the same thing! When people ask for my oatmeal cookie recipe and I shrug and say, 'It's on the box", he gets all ticked off because I'm "giving" away my secrets. I tell him that obviously I do something different, otherwise they would make the cookies themselves instead of buy them from me.

It's the love and passion we put into it! I swear!
