Hey Nyma! Thanks for asking about my trip!

I finally got time to tell ya'll all about it! This is going to be long.....

We got there on Sat about 3 pm. Went straight downtown! We absolutely love, love, loved San Antonio & South TX!! The people there are sooooo nice!! We got there Sat about 2:30 pm. Put our bags up & went straight to the Riverwalk. OH my gosh... the traffic was horrible! That's the only thing we didn't like. Too much traffic & fast pace! We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe' (I'm deprieved, I've never been to a Hard Rock before). The food was very good there. Walked in & saw a familiar face. Couldn't figure out where I knew the girl. Well turned out to be Nakomas from Big Brother (I'm a huge BB fan). We got pics taken together, I can't wait to tell Ironbaker & Missy about meeting her! After Hard Rock we went on a boat ride. It was freezing there Sat!!! Thank goodness it was cold in LA too so we brought warm clothes. The boat ride was very nice. We learned a lot about the buildings on the Riverwalk. Especially liked that building that looks flat from a certain angle. Anyone know the name? Can't remember. So we walked & walked all over the Riverwalk that night. Got up early Sun. morning. It was still freezing but also misting rain all day. That didn't stop us though! 1st we went to the Alamo, then to Buckhorn Saloon for a bite to eat. Didn't see the museum. After that we went to Market Square. I was disappointed with the market. I thought it was going to be a food market where you could buy all authentic Mexican foods & ingredients. I got it mixed up with the HEB Market that simplysweetcakes told me about. It was only shops & foods. Oh well.. we did buy a few Christmas gifts there & I did get some Mexican vanilla. Then off to Mi Tierra to the Bakery. I spoke to a few Mexican women who told me what every little donut & goodie was. That was interesting. The place was so beautifully decorated. I tried to buy some of the decorations hanging in the entrance but they don't sell them. Darn! After that we went to the Tour of America! The elevator got stuck on Sat. we heard about it on the news. So with us being firefighters we had to go see it. We walked from the Alamo to the Tour of America like idiots!! Dang what a long walk. Needless to say we caught the Trolley back. thumbs_up.gif OH, we did use the trolley the whole time we were there just not that time. The trolley drivers were very nice! When we were at the Tower the elevator person told us all about the awesome rescue of the people stuck in the elevator the day before. My DH doesn't like heights so he didn't enjoy the story so much. icon_lol.gif Me, I loved hearing about the rescue! After that we went back to Mi Tierra's for supper. Everyone recommended it so we had to go. Oh boy was the food awesome!!!! The margarita was tooooo, liked to have kicked my butt! I don't drink but maybe once a year so it hit me good icon_cool.gif My DH serenaded me with a Marieachie (spelled wrong) band. Ohhh soooo romantic!!!!! After that we were pooped! Next day Monday my DH had to take his altitude chamber class so I stayed in the room & slept a little late. Then we went to a pie/food place called Village Inn. Wow, was that good! After that we went to the Walmart near the base & finished Christmas shopping! That was a good thing! I was supposed to get together with AlamoSweets but misunderstood our conversation, I thought she was going to call me & she said I was supposed to call her icon_cry.gif so I was really bummed out about not getting to meet her. Later that evening I did get to meet someone from CC!!!!!! I met sweet morningglories!!!! She & her DH took us out for dinner!! We had a blast!!! Went to Steers & Beers on the Riverwalk. She is a beautiful lady whose so energetic & full of life!! My DH even had a amazing time... that doesn't happen much! So thanks Gloria & JB for the night on the town!!!!! thumbs_up.gif We have made life long friends~ Hope we didn't keep you up too late icon_lol.gif We had to leave Tues. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif I wish we could have stayed one more day so I could have met AlamoSweets too! Next time! Cause we will go back. We have to see everything we missed! Before leaving SA I had to go by the Village Inn & get a slice of pie! I didn't have room for it the day before! icon_wink.gif Yummy breakfast! Now we're back to reality... Christmas rush is here. San Antonio was wonderful!!! I had to tell ya'll all about it! Hope I didn't bore you too much~ It's a fantastic town to visit so if you haven't been take it from TC you have got to go~ thumbs_up.gif ***** STARS!!!!!

Well TC it sounds like you had a splendid time. It was nice to here that Mi Tierra is still going strong. The last time I was there was 24 years ago and it was the best place to eat then. You now have me yearning to make a trip to SA, maybe, sometime soon I hope. Glad that you got to me a fellow CCer, that had to be a delight.

frstech, I see your in Longview. I've meet TexasSugar, Mac, & Misdawn (all CCer's) from your area. I know there are more on CC too. We have all got to get together in 2007 & have a big East Texas-North Louisiana (& anyone else that is close by) DOS!

Wow! Mi Tierra has been around that long? That's wonderful! We met an ABC reporter while in the elevator of the Tower & American & he said that is the best place in town to eat at. He was right~

Yes people are usually happy and well its because they get to take your money. LOL JK most ppl in SA are nice wonderful people. Did you take any pictures? You will have to post them somehow somewhere. LOL Glad you had a blast.

I am sad too that it got mixed up but there is always next time. FYI Mi Tierra has never closed. Not since they have been open. They are open 24 - 7 and all of the decorations are always up and on. Not just during Christmas. I am so glad you had such a good time. Hopefully you will be back soon!
