Hello

I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to how to make and attach number toppers like this one

It looks to me like it was formed over floral wire. I would put two wires together to be sure it is long enough. You can always cut it at the end.

leave enough wire to insert it in a straw in the cake to hold it. It might be a little heavy.

Then bend the wire into your number shape and wrap it with candy clay or fondant, or even gumpaste. Let it dry

Thanks JoAnn! I looked for floral wire at Wal Mart yesterday but didn't find any. I will try making the number 8 (the one I need) out of gumpaste and then attach a toothpick to it to secure it to the cake. We'll see if that works!

I don't think a toothpick will support the number, so be prepared. maybe a skewer or a dowel will work.

How about a couple of popsicle (sp) sticks. Maybe one on each side of the 8 so they dont run through the middle
