Hi everyone,
I tried to see if there was a thread with this questain, but i didn't see one.
Just want to know the difference between them, and what purpose they serve. I've never made a cake with them, I would really like to make some flowers, But would love to know the difference and the taste they have. And I've heard about the 50/50..What is that???
Thanks in advance.
actually there are many threads asking this question. fondant is generally rolled to cover a cake, and sometimes used for figures and decorations. It doesn't dry completely hard, and dries slowly. Gumtex or Tylose powder can be added to simulate gumpaste, so it dries faster and harder.
gumpaste is generally used for decorations. It can be rolled more thin than fondant for flower petals etc. It can also be used for figures. but it dries faster so there is less time to scultp.
50/50 is half gp and half fondant. used a lot for drapes, scultures.
to search the topic;
enter something like difference between gumpaste
search all terms
limit the search to titles
this search will bring up most all the threads on this question. To narrow a search, it also helps to use fewer words
