I need to make a stacked 6", 10", 14" round with scrolls for Saturday morning. I was thinking about making the frosting today or tomorrow, baking Thursday and decorating Friday. Does this sound realistic? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert, but that sounds like a good plan to me. Making and coloring the frosting is always what takes me the longest. Of course, I never plan far enough ahead, so I usually make the frosting while the cake is in the oven!

Given that the cakes are due on Saturday, I think your timeline is realistic.

I personally have started preparing for cakes way in advance. I don't often have 6-8 hours to dedicate to cake baking and decorating so I have to break everything down into 2-3 hour chunks and work on it for weeks.

Good luck!

I always start 3-4 prior. First I prep any flowers or fondant decor, Then prepare icings & fillings, Then bake, night before I decorate. I always like to leave extra time at the end for any mishaps.

Your timeline sounds good. icon_smile.gif
