I'm not sure if I am over reacting or what but on 11/21 I ordered about 8 cookie cutters from a cookie website. When I ordered them I put in my name, address and then made payment which went thru paypal. Well, the person sent it but sent it to the address on my paypal account. That is the wrong address!!! I put the address that I wanted it sent to on the order. Well, on 11/24 it was returned because it was the wrong address.
I called this place last week on 11/28 to inform them. She said she still has not gotten it back. Well, I talked with her on Friday and asked her since she knows it's coming back to her can she just go ahead and send out duplicates. I NEED THEM FOR A PARTY I AM SUPPOSED TO DO COOKIES FOR! I asked at least the Christmas themed ones. She said she didn't know if she had them or not, she would check and call me back. Well, I called today and she was not in but the girl who helps her was and said the woman said she can send it out but I would have to pay extra for shipping!!!!! I don't think that's fair!!!! I provided her with the correct address!!! She took it upon herself to use the one in paypal. I haven't been able to update paypal because we are in a new construction house and it doesn't recognize the address yet. I shop online alot and have never had an issue with this.
I told the girl I wanted a refund and she said I would have to call back tomorow and talk with the woman.
What do you think? Should I have to pay the extra S&H?
No way, you should not have to pay additional S&H. IMHO, you should not even have to wait for the new order to be shipped out. It is not your fault that they did not use the address you provided, you should not be charged or inconvienced due to their mistake.
You shouldn't have to pay the extra shipping. It's not your fault that they didn't pay enough attention to get it sent to the right address in the first place.
this is late in coming..i hope it worked out, but the seller was correct in sending it to the address listed on paypal for their protection..i sell on ebay and if a seller requests for me to send item to an address not listed on their paypal account, i request them to change it so we are both protected.

This wasn't bought on ebay though. It is a regular website store and I guess that's what her payments go thru. Do you think it's still the same then?
I thought that PayPal protected you no matter where you use them, itsn't that part of what Pay Pal was set up for? For both buyer and seller protection with payments?

This is from the paypal website:
PayPal buyers can provide a seller with a Gift Address to send an item to someone else like a family member or friend. However, Gift Addresses cannot be confirmed by PayPal. Some sellers only ship to Confirmed Addresses verified by PayPal.
If a transaction is eligible for coverage under the Seller Protection Policy, a seller must ship to the address found on the Transaction Details page (regardless of whether that address is confirmed or not).
I don't think it's limited to just eBay. Maybe it was an oversight on the seller's part. Although it wasn't a gift address, it wasn't the address listed on paypal.
I did it once myself where I bought something and typed in the paypal comments box to ship to my address and not the po box listed. The person sent it to the PO Box, but again, it was either an oversight or they were just following paypal rules for their protection, in case I would have said it wasn't sent to the address listed on paypal.
I would think if the cookie cutter company wanted your return business that they would ship the cutters with no cost to you seeing how this was the first time it happened with you.
I think if there was a discrepancy in the Paypal addy with the order, you should have been contacted before the order was ever sent out. If they thought it was kind of fraud, it would be bad to go ahead and take the money and send it out anyway. I can see why they would have pause about sending it to a different address but why not contact the customer? The least they could have did is not ship it at all and wait for you to contact them on why you haven't received your order. At least then, you would have two shipping costs!
my 2 cents
I agree with Yjudania. When it has happened to me, I always contact the customer first.
