There are sveral products you can use one is called Amazing mold putty. You push the item in and get a custom mold from it. Food safe also.

No-If you push the object in it will look baclwards. When you cast it it will look just like the way you pushed it in. I do this all the time.

You can easily make molds using gumpaste. Take a chunk of gumpaste and roll it in cornstarch (so the object won't stick) and push your object into the chunk of gumpaste. Take out the object and let the mold dry completely. Brush the inside of the mold with cornstarch and take another piece of gumpaste or fondant and press into the mold. Take out and let dry. I have done this using seashells. It worked great!

I second Amazing Mold Putty. It is great stuff and so easy to use! You can get it online, but my local Hobby Lobby has it, too. I buy a couple boxes whenever they have the 40% off coupons. That makes it MUCH cheaper than buying online.

Thanks for the thread. New idea to me, I get sick of feeling like you have to BUY everything to get what you want.. Seashells to mold with gumpaste, we have plenty of those and to think I was looking for a candy mold!

That's the same gel that I'm talking about...that Beryls.com has.

you melt it like you would chocolate. secure your piece down, I use a bit of floral clay to hold my object steady in a small container...I mostly use the lid that comes with the jar..lol

pour the melted gel, let harden...if I put by the AC it hardens in 30-60 minutes and when I peel it away I have my "mold". I use it...then make sure it's clean....I cut it into pieces with a scissor and put back into the jar to reuse later!

So easy!
