Gumtex....does It Have To Be Like This!! Help!!

I made wilton's gumtex and it is very soft although I added tons of pwd sugar! Is this how it suppose to be?
I also made toba's fondant and mixed equal amount of gumtex to it but it is toooooo soft Ican't model anything with it HELPPPPP icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

I think I remember the Gumpaste mix recipe calls for a pound of powdered sugar. Did you start with a measured amount?

If it is too soft, it probably still needs more powdered sugar.

Also, it may need to rest for a time.

I've used this mix one time and I had the same problem. Now I just use fondant and add powdered gum tex. This has worked much better for me.

I used pwd sugar the amount in the recipe that was required and some more! icon_lol.gif

Hi Charmed...I had the same problem. I made the gumpaste on Sunday and yesterday I was so excited to use it, had followed the directions exactly, saved a cup of sifted ps to knead into the gp, and still I was left with a sticky mess. I wrapped it in saran wrap and hurried to my laptop to search through the forum for an answer and found nothing. Thirty minutes later I unwrapped it and hurray icon_lol.gif it was finally pliable. Hope this helps.

If you have a baseball sized ball of fondant...how much gumtex do you use?

I would use 2-3 tsp of gum-tex for that amount of fondant.
