I have a stupid question. What exactly is luster dust or petal dust and where can I find it? I've tried Michael's, Joann's, and a cake store here locally. I've also tried on the CC website and can't find it.
Where can I find it. The local stores look at me as though I'm from another planet
and Michael's doesn't carry it. HHHHEEEELLLLPPPP!!!! I like the effects and want to be able to do it on my cakes. I think I've read that you mix it with a small amount of fluid (alcohol??) and paint it on. Is this right? Can someone get me pointed in the right direction? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a ton. Here's a link to order some online. You can use it dry to add sparkle or mix with alcohol and paint on.

Here is a good explaination of all the dusts: http://sdbytracy.com/dusts.htm
Payless cake Decor is a good place. A bunch of other places (that I have ordered from) include:
Country Kitchen
Beryl's
The Baker's Kitchen
Cakes By Sam
I have a question regarding Payless Cake Decor's luster dust. It says it's a 2-pack for $3.98. Does that mean you get 4 grams? And is it two packs of the same color?
Thanks.

Yes, two 2 gram containers of the same color. It is a better place to order from to stock up on the colors that you use a lot. If you are new to luster dust and are not sure of what colors, then ordering singles from other places may be wiser at first.
Thanks, Missey. That's good to know for the future.
