Makes me think of the Seinfeld episode--lol

Anyways, so I am cutting out fondant to put on cookies to make the cookie tree. The first batch worked wonderfully. The second batch, well, as I was cutting the stars, I look and notice the size I was cutting seems like it was the size I just cut. I am doing 5 trees. And the fondant already cut is in layers so I can't even check if I was using the wrong cutter. I start measuring and sure enough the stuff pulls back. I have already cut everything except the last 6 pieces. It is past 1am. I don't care at this point. The cookies are in the oven and I will hope the stuff swells a bit once I put the MMF on the hot cookie. Otherwise, this see of trees gets more snow around the edges.

Each tree has 9 cookies vs the 20 Wilton and everyone else is doing. My back is killing me!! No way would I do 20 cookies each tree considering I have to roll the fondant and cookie dough. Lots of work.

Next time I am going to color the dough a pretty shade of green and then drizzle thinned icing.

Anways, back to the shrinkage--not enough something? I normally do not put crisco and very lightly had it on my hands. Too much powderd sugar? It was kinda like pizza dough when it pulls away.

Thanks!

I don't think fondant really shrinks normally, although I suppose if it is drying, it might. You could press on the fondant to stretch it onto the cookie. Or you might have used a different cutter.

But I think your solution of snow on the edges is probably a great one.

I've make those trees, and although they are adorable, they really do take a lot of time.
