HI i was just wondering if anyone knew a receipe for whip cream like they use at the stores. No one in my family likes buttercream but we all love the store whip cream cakes. Normal whip cream receipes that i have tried are not the same. Cany anyone help me PLEASE????
I think what they use is actually a non dairy product, or at least it was at Safeway. Do you have access to a frozen product called Pastry Pride? I love it, it is thawed and then beaten to stiff peaks. It is more stable than Cool Whip and I think it tastes better. You can ice with it, pipe borders and do writing, I think it is a bit soft for making flowers but I haven't actually tried that. I also use it for Bavarian cream fillings, I posted the recipe in the recipe section of the forum.
Smart and Final carries it. they have pastry pride, frostin pride, and rich's bettercreme.
Would you guys say those other brands compare to Wilton's ready-to-whip Whipped Frosting? You just add freezing water and beat it for a few minutes.
Thank you I will try to ask to see if they will sell me some from the store. I have never heard of Pastry Pride though... What exactly is it?
Try using the whipped cream buttercream icing on this site under "recipes." It is totally temperature stable. I sometimes mix it in with my Wilton buttercream and my sister swears it tastes exactly like what the stores use.

pastry pride is a whipped icing/ filling mix. You buy it frozen in cartons, let it thaw and whip. To me it tastes like cool whip, but holds up better on a cake.
If you're not familiar with Pastry Pride, perhaps your store carries Rich's Bettercreme (comes in 1 qt. milk type container, which you whip) or can be purchased whipped at Sam's Clubs (that have a bakery dept.)

my mom uses Tip Top non dairy whipped topping (sounds like it's exactly the same thing as Pastry Pride - frozen in a carton) and adds 1 envelope of whipped cream stabilizer...Holds up just like a store whipped cream frosting! See 60th b-day cake in my photos...
