I have a Hewlitt Packard and have had no problems with it. You want to get one that is at least 5.0 pixels. I love having a digital camera. I can take a picture of my cake then pull it up on my computer and, for some reason, I see things in the picture that I didn't notice when just looking at the cake and can go back to the cake and fix it before delivery.

I have two, one is a Vivtar, kinda crapy but did the job until I get a better one. I recently purchased a Kodak Easy Share from staples.com for under $200.~. It came with the printer dock which is great beause not only does it print the pictures on it's special, inexpencive paper and ink packages, it charges the internal battery as well!!! I've used it and only it ever since.. handed the other one down to hubby for work purposes lol.

I love the Kodak one because it has the printer dock station with it, you can get the ink and paper sets in staples for cheap and they also have mega packs of 4 inks and 4 packs of paper. It's great because if someone would like a picture of their cake at time of delivery I can snap and print right there in under 3 minutes. Good luck with your search! icon_smile.gif

For the best pics even up close ones, get one with at least 5 pixels. Also, make sure it does not reqire the rechargable batteries or regulare batteries for power because you'll be spending a fortune on batteries alone. I also like the ones with the memory card not the stick, just easier to work with.

I ditto the Kodak Easy Share. My business bought me that one and with the printing dock as well and it's great. Zooms perfectly, prints professional pictures, and charges great too.

I am a Sony girl, I've never used the Kodak one, but for what I hear here seems pretty cool! Just wanted to support what someone already said, and buy no less than 5 megapixels! Good luck!

I went from a giant Olympus C-5050....takes great photos...lots of options, but is bulky......to a Canon Power Shot sd400 (now they are up to I think sd700)......all I can say is that this bad boy doesn't leave my side. It's the size of a cell phone....it just stays in my pocketbook...always. The quality is fantastic....mine is 5 megapixels...but they are now up to 7!!! It comes with the battery and charger. Fast charge...lasts a long time. I highly reccommend this to everyone!

I love love love Olympus - I bought one 5 years ago from their Camedia-line and even though it was only 3,2 MP it was fab and took very sharp pictures. Then it got stolen. And I had to live with some crappy camera that took awful pictures - which shows if you look in my photo folder here on CC. So yesterday I bought another Olympus, an X-760. And I love it.

I'm SO happy to see this thread because I'm also searching for a digital to purchase because the developing costs are starting to get old when it comes to cake pics and gambling whether or not the cake pic came out well.

I shopped for a new digital camera a few times in the past year .. didn't get one ONLY because I found other things to spend my money on!

I have an old GIANT brick Olympus 3 megapixel that takes phenominal (sp?) photos.

I asked a few freelance photographers and they all swear by Canons. A few people I work with have a Canon SDXXX (from 400 to 600) and LOVE them. It's what I'm planning on getting when I'm ready to cough up the $$$ for it. Rave reviews of all the Canon SD's.

We just got a new camera for Christmas this year. We have a Canon Powershot S3-IS. It is awesome!!! I don't understand quite everything about it, but my husband is really into it and is learning a lot of really cool stuff about it. It was around $400 at Circuit City. We did a lot of research before buying and thought this would be the best one for us. It has 12x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom, a flip out screen and a normal view finder. It also takes video. I am pretty sure it is 6 mega pixels. It might be seven, but I think it is 6. The flip out screen is very handy to take pictures from above something if you need to. It is a great camera!

I have a digital camera right now but am planning on getting a new one. The one I am after is a Cannon Rebel SLR. It is supposed to be one of the best and comes in a 7 and 10 megapixel version. It is like having a 35 mm camera with the ease of a digital. My husband has done a lot of research on the camera and it is supposed to be one of the best out there.

I just got a Kodak EasyShare 6 megapixal and I love it. It's easy to use and small enough to put in your purse. I bought 3 more for Christmas gifts on black Friday at Target for $98 each but I think the regular price is around $150.
