Hello All~

I'm new to this site.I started doing basic just for fun cakes appx 1 1/2 years ago, nothing to fancy. Maybe I'm afraid to take that step Maybe I need a bigger challenge. So I thought maybe I'll try cake Competitions. I started with a local County Fair and took 2nd, but now I want to do more. I noticed the Gingerbread Competion but missed it this year. So
I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I can get a list of cake and Sugar Art Competions throughout the USA for 2007.
Any help is Truely Appericated. icon_biggrin.gif

Question: What do you do when you go to one of these things out of state?
I noticed on another thread also that people travel pretty far sometimes and a lot of these there is no decorating on site.
How do you manage to travel with the cake?
Just curious, got me to wondering icon_confused.gif

Well most of the cakes are stand unless they are carves-Then they are real cake. I had ten entries this year with my six year olds. I have a double shlef for the back of my Honda. Anti skid matte and 2' cusion underneath. I have not had any damage and we drive from Minnesota to Oklahoma. You just cannot drive like a maniac! My wedding
cake this year traveled on its stand.

Taunty, not sure where you are but if you are anywhere near MD or willing to travel, check out this one:

From what I have heard and some posts on here, it sounds like it's supposed to be awesome - I am thinking of going myself, if I am here in U.S. at that time.

OMG Moydear77, the wedding cake traveled ON IT'S STAND?!?!?!??!??!?!?!
I think I would have at least 3 heart attacks if I did that - I use the nonskid shelf liners and whatnot too, but I still freak out, LOL....
You are so brave...!

Yeah i was not sure about that but it was rock solid. The stand was pretty high! If you go look at my website it is the tall pink cake in the ossas gallery. I would say the stand was 6" tall, bottom tier was 5",and the rest were 4" cakes.

I had some stop my heart moments!

Hello~
Well I live in Washington state, so I'd perfer to keep it in Washington, Oregon,California and, Montana and Idaho. Not sure I want to freak out driving with a made cake in my car. Several friends did Washington Sugar Show last year, but I have no idea how to get into it this year, there is no posting anywhere. icon_confused.gif

Sorry to ask, I'm really new to this, and I do it for fun for family friends and peaceof mind, who is the OSSAS, I hear a big gasp of air coming from several, I'm sorry. I know all about ICES thumbs_up.gif

Thanks for the links. If anyone knows about Competitions in States I've listed please feel free to let me know icon_smile.gif
