Does any one else have this problem. I go 2 - 3 weeks with nothing to make and then all of a sudden 3 cakes for the same day.

I just think it is crazy.

Oh, thats funny. I worked full time 10 months out of the year. I have off in the summer when the students are gone. I hardly EVER have a lot of cakes during the summer. Weddings seem to be going to Spring/Fall. But I was just thinking the same thing. I am at work 8 hours Friday and have two cakes due that night and one due Saturday. Thats how it goes!! icon_lol.gif

Yup, this happens to me a lot too!....except for next month. I have one cake for every weekend in October! It's so nice when it works out like that!!

It's the nature of the industry. I had zero weddings in April but 7 in May, 7 in June and 6 in July (3 were on 7/7/07). I just LUV it when I get one weekend off ..... it's a whole week of relaxing and doing fun stuff (like going to the store and NOT buying catering stuff! Did you know they sell clothes in stores, TOO???? icon_surprised.gif )

You mean there are other stores that don't sell cake stuff? I totally know how you feel, I have been busy non stop for the past 3 weeks and the upcoming 2 weeks are crazy and then nothing, it's like everyone decides not to celebrate anything.

I know how you all feel!! I own my own beauty salon and right before any holiday, everyone wants something special. WHY? icon_mad.gif Works my fingers to the bones, but then AH... the next week I get to relax and concentrate on baking. thumbs_up.gificon_biggrin.gif

I take the time to do the little things that I can't do during the hectic times. Maybe I'm wierd, I didn't know your supposed to take some time for yourself. I keep right on working because I know its just 1 in a few weeks during the year that there are no cake or lollipop orders.

Yesh! I guess that makes me a workoholic. I have to plan to relax or take time off.

Well, you know the saying-"When one comes, they all come!" I think it's like that everywhere. I worked at KMart for a while and wouldn't have anyone for a while, then when 1 person came to check out, I would look up and there were 10 more behind them!! icon_surprised.gif I guess the saying is true! icon_wink.gif

auntginn, that's just because we're women! I'm always reminding my husband "When a man has a day off, he does nothing because hey! it's a day off! When a woman has a day off, she has to catch up on all the work she got behind on because no one helps because they are too busy doing nothing on their day off!!"

HaHa So true, Indydebi. I hadn't thought of it that way, everyone around me goes about doing their own thing leaving me to do all the work by myself.

Tlak about multi-tasking LOL

Indydebi-you crack me up. Your house sounds like mine. When not working my day job, or making deco's for upcoming cakes, baking, making frosting, or actually doing a cake, cleaning, laundry, errands, paying bills, etc., who has a day off? HA. My DH tells me when I don't have a cake, "you can relax'! Hilarious. I am lucky if I get 15 minutes before I go to bed (last night was midnight and up at 4 a.m. to finish a cake before I go to work), to take a breath. I think you hit the nail on the head though, I had to comment b/c your post made me laugh.

I can only count on being nutty busy one time of the year-Graduation! Its nuts. After that, it seems the biz goes the way you all explain. Nothing for a weekend and 3 or 4 for the next. Hard to plan my supply orders for me, where I live, I have to get everything online!!!!

OMG so true! Or my dh will work on his own "projects" and leave me to deal with my toddler and boys while trying to get my stuff done!!! It's like HELLO?!?...what....are you exempt from baby duty on your day off too??
Then he gets tired out and takes a nap....
