I made some modeling chocolate using the white Wilton candy melts and followed the directions. I put it on the wax paper to cool and 3 hours later, it doesn't want to peel off the wax paper. Is there anyway to get it off the paper? Do I just need to scrap it off? Will I still be able to roll it out and use it?

OK if you're using the recipe for Candy Clay from Wilton's site, I have the following suggestions for you.

a) you really do need to give it more time on the waxed paper. The directions suggest overnight. What is probably happening is the chocolate in the very center of the mass is still somewhat warmish, or not quite set, and hasn't released it's hold on the wax yet. Give it a bit more time.

b) if time is not on your side, you could try refrigerating it, but then you will have to wait that much longer for it to soften back up so you can use it.

c) I hardly ever use waxed paper anymore, perhaps you might get different results using parchment.

I still think your best bet is to let it sit overnight like the recipe suggests.

If you're using a recipe other than Wilton's, I wouldn't really know if the problem might be something else.

Hope that helps! thumbs_up.gif

Thanks for the suggestions. I used the recipe on this site. I don't need it until Saturday so I can wait.

If it is still stuck, even though it shouldn't be, you can gently warm the waxed paper side. flip it over and hit the back with a warm hair dryer, or put it on a barely warm cookie sheet.

Don't over do it and totally melt the clay.
