I am making my first 5 tiered cake and am very anxious! I wanted to stack the 14" and 12" layers the night before and then refrigerate them because I won't have time in the morning. Do you think that this is going to be a problem? Any suggestions to ease my nerves? Thanks!

If you have plenty of dowels and a level cake, stacking the two should not cause a problem. However, it will be VERY heavy.

I agree with JoAnnB. Just make sure the dowels give a little bit of space so that the 12" isn't sitting directly on top of the 14"....and yes it will be HUGELY heavy!!

My only suggestions are to make sure that you use a VERY sturdy cake board and to use lots of dowels--sturdy ones. Good luck, and make sure you post pictures.
