What is the best way to attach candy clay decorations to crusted buttercream?

Buttercream? Water? Fondant adhesive?

Thanks!

I personally prefer buttercream or royal (whichever you have). The candy clay doesn't 'melt' the way fondant does when you brush it with water.

Buttercream was what I was thinking...

I'm attaching candy clay mum leaves to the buttercream cake, then air dried buttercream mums to the leaves. Bride wanted everything edible.

I'm attaching everything at the venue, so melted chocolate is not an option.
