Hi everyone,

I was wondering what books you would suggest to someone who was learning to decorate and bake cakes. I was going to get the cake mix doctor and some other books. I am not married to cake mixes or scratch cakes. I can do both. So what else would you suggest. My long term goal is to open a bakery cafe type thing. Anything to help me there or any recipe books or any advice is appreciated.

Our library has lots of books on cake decorating and baking.

I would just grab some and see where it takes you. Baking would be a very important part. Start with the basics (white, yellow, chocolate) and find a set of recipes that work for you.

Also experiment with icing recipes until you find one you love.
