I've just made some using Lindy Smith's instructions - are they going to dry out brittle again? They have set like jelly now, will they lose the moisture so I can actually stick them in my fairy, and how long will this take (cake is due Thursday, so fairy needs to be finished Weds eve, Thurs am). Thanks for any help!

They will dry and be quite firm and non-sticky.

Ooooo bonjovibabe! I have never even heard of these...is there a link showing how to make them? I'm making tink in January for my wonderfully adored babysitter who is turning 16 and maybe I could use them. Thanks!!!

I'm following the instructions in Lindy Smith's 'Storybook Cakes' (gorgeous book!). It's very simple, you just melt the following together in a small bowl in the microwave until disssolved:

1 tsp powdered geletine
1/2 tsp icing sugar
1 tbsp water

I also added a good pinch of disco glitter to the mixture to add sparkle to the wings. You then spoon over a template covered with cellophane. If you'd like the template for the wings, I can mail it to you if you let me know your address.
Hope that helps!

That would be fabulous! Thank you soooo much! My email is [email protected]! I may have to go find that book and add to my library anyway. I love getting new books!

Hi bonjovibabe,

May I ask instead of using cellophane, can I use grease paper/plastic sheet? Do you mind to email me the template for the wings [email protected]

Thank you very much.

i have heard people say they use wire as a mold...is this what you are doing, or something different?

another silly Q? what is disco dust? i use luster dust, petal ddust, glitter and shimmer dust, so i am wondering if its basically the same or just a name of a color of one of these. thanks!
